Present Tense Forms
Present Continuous with -yap-
This tense is used to express present-continuous action in Uzbek.The suffix for the present continuous tense in Uzbek is -yap. The present continuous tense is formed similarly to that in Turkish: verb stem + -yap- + personal predicate ending. The same suffix -yap is used both after consonants and vowels. It is similar to the Turkish -(ı)yor tense.

Note: 3rd person plural is used a little differently in Uzbek. The common ending is -ishyapti. Sometimes, like in Turkish, the form with -yaptilar can be used too.
Negative Form
The negative form of the present continuous form is formed the following way: verb stem + -ma- + -yap- + personal predicate suffix. -ma- has ONLY ONE form in contrast to the Turkish -mi-, -mu-, -mı-, -mü-.

The verbs o'tir, tur, yur, yot
The Uzbek verbs tur, yur, o’tir, yot are inflected differently in the present tense. They can also take the suffix -yapti, but it would mean a momentous action.

Present Progressive with -moqda
The form with -moqda is not used commonly in daily speech. In both languages the past progressive form is used mostly in the literary language.

The form with -yotir is used mainly in Uzbek literary language and in some dialects.
